Rhythm of the Train
Santa Fe Railroad 4-8-4, heavy passenger locomotive 3751 hauls the Grand
Canyon Limited up a easy grade at high speed. Locomotive 3751 was the
original locomotive of this type on the Santa Fe and is here depicted
as it appeared c. 1940. A final rebuild in the 40s dramatically changed
its appearance, to the sleek, handsome machine of today. The locomotive
was preserved and rebuilt by the San Bernardino Railroad Society and is
occasionally still operated.
