Apache
Raid
A pair of B-25J medium bombers of the 499th Bomb Squadron, known as the
Bats Outa Hell, engage anti-shipping targets during a mission off the
coast of Indo-China during late 1944. The 499th painted the noses of their
aircraft with a bat motif. The Sag Harbor Express, depicted here, was
unfortunately lost along with its crew on a mission over the Philippines
in January of 1945.
